There
are 2 major low cost airlines servicing our area, namely Ryanair
and Flybe. The nearest airport to the lake is Limoges and transfers
to and from this airport are free of charge. It is possible
to fly to Limoges from the following UK airports:
With
Ryanair: East Midlands, Liverpool, London Stansted
With
Flybe: Southampton
It is possible to fly
to Bergerac, Bordeaux, La Rochelle or Angouleme where hire cars
are available to complete your journey to us, but this will
involve a minimum of a 2 hour drive. Alternatively call us and
ask for a quote to be picked up from these airports.

There
are various internet sites available to give you detailed instructions
on how to reach us from the various ports along the northern
coast of France. All routes are fairly easy to navigate with
the possible exception of the Paris ring road, where you should
expect delays. So if you are travelling from Calais or Boulogne
you may want to add an extra hour on your journey time to allow
for this. If you use the main motorways or A roads you will
incur charges at the toll booths along the way, but they are
normally inexpensive and the A roads remain the quickest routes
remembering that the speed limits are 130 km/h in good weather
conditions and 110 km/h in wet weather. It is obligatory in
France to carry the warning red triangle and reflective jackets
in case of breakdown and don’t forget to check with your
car insurance company to ensure coverage whilst abroad.
Whichever
route you choose, you will find that all the roads are very
well signposted so it is quite difficult to get lost. The roads
are quiet in comparison to those in the UK and driving in France
is normally a pleasure.
