I’ve been visiting Brigueuil for 7 years now and honestly the place has everything i require from my european fishing trips! The lake is immaculately kept with all swims being barked meaning there’s no mud to keep walking in and out of the bivvy when the rain comes. There’s also plenty of shade with tree lined margins providing some relief from the hot summer sun! The fish stock is honestly one of the best I’ve encountered in any lake. I’ve caught over fourteen 50lb+ fish with only 1 of them being a repeat capture. On my most recent trip in 2023 the weather was very challenging and changeable but i landed 11 fish with an average weight of just over 41lb! That’s an average that many lakes would dream about!
The owners Andy & Tracey are the most lovely people you could wish to meet. Tracey’s cooking will keep you well fed and Andy will happily deliver all your gear to the swim in the quad bike and trailer. We’ve grown to know them well over the years and now firmly consider them not as hosts, but as friends. If you require anything from the shops they will grab it for you. The town of St Junien is only 20 minutes down the road and has absolutely everything you’ll need if you wish to pop out yourselves. Although it’s a long drive from Calais it’s almost motorway all the way, the drive is as easy as you could wish for so don’t let the distance put you off visiting!
I will be back for many years to come, there’s still a 65lb+ in there for me to catch yet! I’d also like to make clear that Tracey is a very keen gym goer, particularly on the weights and she’s made me write this or threatened me with extreme violence :-D.
